14 Ago Women’s BMX – Rio 2016 – Manon Valentino (France)
Going to the Olympics games is a dream, but going to Rio 2016 is already a victory after the serious injury I had last year. Having the opportunity to represent my country is such an honor.
My goal is to give everything. I don’t want to regret any single thing! I’m going to do my best to bring home a medal and we will see what happen. The French team is expecting the same. They know we can compete for a medal and they want us to push our limits.
This circuit is fast and I love that! It’s technical but not too dangerous, it’s going to be beautiful to watch! I just hope they did some work with the corners a little bit too flat.
I broke my heel and dislocated my ankle at the beginning of the 2015 season. I just didn’t even know if I could walk well again. It wasn’t bearable to give up so I keep the same goals. The 2016 season was really hard, I had some others injuries during the winter and I was really late with my training plan. The first and the second world cup I stayed in 1/4 of finals. Even if I made progresses it was so frustrating. We made a bet and we chose to do everything for the last world cup and it was worth it! After a third place I got my tickets for worlds and after a 4th place I got my ticket for Olympics. It was the hardest episode of my career but I predicted when I crashed that it would also be the best one and I was right.
I don’t have main favorites for the medals. Everybody will be the same, I am just going to focus on myself.
