11 Jul Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour Preview (WE 2.1)
The 30th edition of the Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour (formerly named as Thüringen Rundfahrt der Frauen or International Ladies’ Tour of Thüringen) is held from Wednesday, 12th July 2017 until Tuesday, 18th July. Riders will have to cover approximately 575 kilometres throughout seven racing days, including a prologue and an ITT.
Despite the fact that the race is held just after the Giro Rosa and the it clashes with BeNe Ladies Tour, the German stage race will feature some of the top riders of the international peloton with a race course that maintains its characteristic short steep hills, fast descents and an individual time trial. German legend Hanka Kupfernagel, multiple World champion and 1999 Thüringen Rundfahrt winner, will be part of her home race offering four cycling workshops throughout some of the stages.

The 30th edition of the Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour will kick start with a prologue. Since its start in Gera riders will face a steady climb before turning back to the municipality of Gera.

Similar course as the sixth stage of the previous editions of the race. The queen stage will feature once again Gahma climb as its main difficulty of the race. However, this time riders will cover a longer version of the climb, with 9 kilometres at an average 3.9% gradient. One of the key days in the 2017 Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour, that will likely end with a very reduced group of riders battling for the victory in Schleiz.

2nd stage: Dörtendorf – Dörtendorf 106km Local Time: 17:00-19:45 approx. (UTC +2)
With start and finish at Dörtendorfer Berg in Dörtendorf the second stage of the 2017 edition comprises of a 27-kilometre circuit around Dörtendorf, that the peloton will have to cover four times. The race will likely end up with a sprint atop Dörtendorfer Berg, a 1.2-kilometre climb at an average 7.7% gradient that riders will face four times.

Mavi García y Lorena Llamas (Bizkaia Durango) will be the Spanish riders at the 2017 edition of Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour.
Italian rider Elena Cecchini (Canyon // SRAM) won the previous edition of Thüringen Rundfahrt der Frauen, after proving herself as the most persistent rider throughout the seven-day stage race. Australian Amanda Spratt (Orica-AIS), who successfully broke away with Cecchini and won the queen stage of the race. finished second, while Dutch rider Ellen van Dijk (Boels Dolmans) completed the podium in third place.
