EPZ Omloop van Borsele Preview (WE 1.1)

On Saturday, on the eve of the inaugural Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes, the 34th edition of the EPZ Omloop van Borsele will be held. The Dutch race, ranked under UCI 1.1 category, as in previous editions will have a Women Junior stage race and an additional time trial race (19.7 kilometres) held on Friday.

EPZ Omloop van Borsele Junior stage race (from Friday, April 21st until Sunday, April 23rd) will be the fourth and final round of the second edition of the UCI Women Juniors Nations Cup. Throughout the three stages of the tenth edition of the Dutch stage race riders will have to cover approximately 157 kilometres, including an individual time trial on Friday.

At this fourth UCI Women Junior Nations’ Cup round Spanish-registered team CAF Turnkey Engineering will make its second international appearance at the Junior series, after making its historic debut four weeks ago in Gent-Wevelgem.

Route 136.8km: Borsele – Borsele

The course remains unchanged from the 2016 edition with four laps to a big circuit of 24.3 kilometres and another four to a smaller local circuit of only 9.9 kilometres, totalling 136.8 kilometres. As in the previous editions, the race will very likely finish with a bunch sprint or a reduced group sprint.

Barbara Guarischi (Canyon SRAM) won the 33rd edition of the EPZ Omloop van Borsele. The Italian rider was the fastest in the reduced group sprint in ‘s-Heerenhoek after 136 kilometres. Dutch rider Floorje Mackaij (Liv-Plantur) finished second while Luxembourger rider Christine Majerus (Boels-Dolmans) completed the podium.
